You Are Still Growing

For all my clients who do the brave work of becoming:

The tree does not apologize
when autumn comes.

It does not cling to every leaf,
begging it to stay.

It lets go.

Not because the leaf
meant nothing,

but because some things
are only meant
to travel with us
for a season.

The ocean does not question
its worth
when the tide pulls away.

The moon does not panic
when part of her disappears.

The earth does not call herself broken
when winter comes
and nothing blooms.

Nature understands something
we sometimes forget:

Not every ending is a failure.
Not every empty space is a loss.
Not every season is meant for blooming.

Sometimes you are shedding.

Sometimes you are resting.

Sometimes your roots
are doing work
no one can see.

And sometimes
the bravest thing you can do
is stop digging up the seed
to see if it is growing.

Let yourself have seasons.

Let yourself change.

Let yourself release
what can no longer grow beside you.

You are not behind.

You are not broken.

You may simply be
in the season
before the bloom.
