The Storm That Cleared My Path

About 5 years ago, I lost three things: a job I thought I’d retire from, a friendship I thought was forever, and a relationship I thought was “the one.”

I didn’t see it coming. I felt like I was being stripped bare. I kept asking, Why is everything falling apart? But the truth was—it wasn’t falling apart. It was falling away.

What I didn’t realize then was that life was doing what I couldn’t: clearing out what no longer aligned with who I was becoming.

And slowly, painfully, beautifully…space was made.

Space for deeper friendships. Space for work that lights me up. Space—one day—for a relationship that’s aligned with my values, rooted in growth, and built on mutual reciprocity.

But first, I had to learn how to stand in the clearing.

The Sacred Clearing

There’s something spiritual about the way life clears.

We fight it. We cling to what’s familiar. We beg for things to stay—even when they’re hurting us. But the clearing doesn’t come to punish. It comes to awaken.

It’s as if the Divine whispers, "You’re settling. You’re shrinking. You’re aiming too low. Let me show you what you’re truly worthy of."

And so, the job disappears. The friendship fades. The relationship ends. Not because you failed. But because you’re being called higher.

But here’s the truth: if you’re choosing growth—if that’s your path—not everyone will come with you. Some people won’t cross the bridge. And that’s okay.

You have to honor their journey. People grow when they’re ready. And sometimes, loving them means letting them stay where they are.

When the Clearing Feels Lonely

Growth can be isolating. Clearing can feel like exile.

You may find yourself set apart—not because you’re broken, but because you’re being rebuilt. This solitude isn’t punishment. It’s preparation.

Sometimes, you’re alone so you can finally hear your own voice. So you can learn to love yourself—not for who you’ve been, but for who you’re becoming.

Use this space to get clear:

  • What do you truly want in your life?

  • What are you no longer willing to settle for?

  • What kind of love, work, and energy do you want to surround you?

Let the loneliness be sacred. Let it be the soil where clarity grows. Let it remind you: You are worthy of more.

How to Stand in the Clearing

When life clears things away, it can feel like chaos. But it’s also an invitation—to rebuild with intention. Here’s how to navigate that space:

1. Root Yourself in Ritual

  • Create daily routines that ground you: morning journaling, evening walks, breathwork, prayer.

  • Rituals remind you that even when everything feels uncertain, you are still here.

2. Reclaim Your Beliefs

  • Ask: What do I believe about myself? About my worth? About what I deserve?

  • Write down truths that anchor you. Post them where you’ll see them. Speak them aloud.

3. Get Clear on What’s True

  • Not what others expect. Not what culture demands. What’s true for you.

  • What do you value? What makes you feel alive? What are you no longer willing to tolerate?

4. Let Grief and Gratitude Coexist

  • You can mourn what’s gone and still be grateful for what’s coming.

  • Clearing is emotional. Don’t rush it. Honor the process.

5. Trust the Fire

  • The burning away isn’t punishment. It’s preparation.

  • You’re being refined, not ruined.

Your Truest Life Is Waiting

Clearing is sacred. It’s the universe saying, You’re ready for more. More alignment. More joy. More truth.

So if you’re in the fire, don’t fear it. Stand in it. Root yourself. And watch what rises.
